David Soo, Pianist

David Soo is an Australian pianist who has performed extensively as a solo recitalist, chamber musician and concerto soloist. He completed his PhD at the University of Melbourne with Professors Ian Holtham, Melanie Plesch and Donald Nicolson; and previously obtained postgraduate degrees from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Joan Havill, and a Bachelor of Music degree with Honours with Glenn Riddle. He has appeared in many concert halls throughout the world, and has performed and recorded for ABC Classic FM, Fine Music Broadcasting Network Stations and FMITE Spanish Radio. David is currently a staff member at Brighton Grammar School and was recently appointed as Visiting Music Lecturer at the Tianjin Conservatorium of Music.

Jade Chen, Flautist

Jade Chen is an award-winning flautist, violinist, and pianist. Her highlights include winning the Dandenong Ranges Ann and Chris Krans music prize, Drapers Scholarship, and a multi-winner of the Principal Honours Roll at Wesley College. She was awarded her LMusA in piano in June 2024, and also holds an AMusA in three instruments, including a distinction in Flute in 2025. Jade made her concerto debut last August performing Rachmaninov's piano concerto no. 2 in the Melbourne Recital Centre. Her other major performances include recitals at the Austral Salon for Music, Diamond Creek concert series, and the St Paul's Cathedral recital series. Jade made her debut for the Stretto International Piano Festival in 2023 performing an all-Chopin programme, and this year returns as a flautist.

Ethan Zhang, Pianist

Ethan Zhang is a Year 5 student at Wesley College (St Kilda Road campus) studying piano with Dr David Soo. He made his concerto debut in May performing Schumann's piano concerto. His many prizes include winning third prize in the National Australian Schools Instrumental Championship final, the Singapore International Piano Competition, and first prizes in the Glory and ad Libitum International Piano Competition (USA).

Han (Owen) Huang, Pianist

Han (Owen) Huang is a Year 3 student at Mount View Primary School, where he studies piano with Dr David Soo. He has received many awards for his playing, including winning Gold Prize at the Berlin Grand Prize Virtuoso International Piano Competition, Singapore International Piano Competition, the Glory (USA) and Ad Libitum piano competition (Poland). Han received an A+ for his Grade 4 piano exam in 2024. Locally, he has received first prizes at the Ringwood and Monash Youth Music Festival and subsequently performed at Karralyka Theatre.

Olivia Hou, Pianist

Olivia Hou is a Year 7 student at Camberwell Girls' Grammar School, where she studies piano with Dr David Soo. Olivia is a talented violinist and trumpeter. Her recent achievements include winning Silver Prize at the Singapore International Music Competition, and Third Prize in the WPTA Australia talented teenager category. She made her international debut at the Ehrbar Saal in June 2026, and her recital debut at St Paul's Cathedral and Steinway Gallery Melbourne.

Tyler Zhou, Pianist

Tyler Zhou studies piano with Dr David Soo. He has received many prizes for his performances, including winning Gold and Absolute prize at the Singapore International Music Competition, Scherzo International Piano competition in Tel Aviv, and the Dandenong Ranges Bill Borthwick prize, Third Prize at the Polish national music competition, and being a diplomate at the 2025 Szafarnia International Chopin competition for youth. Recent performance highlights include concerts at the Sydney Opera House, Esplanade concert hall (Singapore), Szafarnia (Poland), and Ehrbar Saal (Vienna). He also made his concerto debut performing the first movement of Schumann's piano concerto.

Amelia Zhang, Pianist

Amelia is six years old and studies piano with Dr David Soo. She has received many prizes including Third Prize and the Best Australian prize (Category A) at the WPTA Australia international piano competition, First Prize at the Singapore Youth Music Festival, and Second Prize in the Kayserburg International Youth Piano Competition (Melbourne division). Amelia has given several performances at Steinway Gallery and recently made her European debut at the Ehrbar Saal and Mozart Haus in Vienna.
