BIO

Michael Tessler is a jazz pianist and author of Keys That Fit, a book exploring the advantages of narrower piano keyboards. His interest in stretto pianos grew from his deep admiration for the playing style of Oscar Peterson and the demanding hand spans required to perform in that tradition. Michael has particularly enjoyed playing a specialized Kaduk Musical Instruments keyboard with a 5.1-inch octave. The narrower keyboard has expanded his reach and enabled new levels of musical expression, allowing him to approach the piano with greater freedom and confidence. Professionally, Michael is an architectural photographer, pursuing another creative discipline that combines technical precision with artistic vision.
